10 Million People, One Material Shift: CERAFILTEC’s Journey with NORYL™ Resin

Supporting CERAFILTEC's mission: "CLEAN WATER. EVERYWHERE."
CERAFILTEC is a global leader in ceramic membrane filtration technology. Over 10 million people rely on water treated by their systems. Their flat-sheet ceramic membranes are designed to last up to 20 years, and support recyclability, driving the future of sustainable water treatment.

THE ROLE OF NORYL™ RESIN IN CERAFILTEC’S SUCCESS
CERAFILTEC’s breakthrough came with the transition from steel-framed modules to fully plastic housings made from SABIC’s NORYL™ glass-reinforced PPE resin. This material was essential to realizing their vision of a corrosion-free, lightweight, and sustainable module.
“Prior to collaborating with SABIC and utilizing its innovative NORYL™ resin, we were repeatedly told that our vision of an all-plastic water filtration module was impossible. SABIC helped make this possible.” — Kay Gunther Gabriel, CEO, CERAFILTEC
CERAFILTEC's filtration systems are used in:
- Wastewater Reuse (MBR) – reliable pathogen barrier & long life cycle
- Seawater Pre-Treatment – biofouling-resistant membranes for stable RO operation
- Drinking Water Treatment – safe, filtration for communities
- Produced Water – oil & gas applications with high solids & harsh conditions
- Backwash wastewater treatment – to maximize water reuse
